Too Much of a Good Thing
Several months ago, well before I became a father (actually, well before my daughter was even conceived)I ordered a wicked cool Beatles poster from Allposters.com. It's a reprint of the record store release poster of Revolver and it's huge. We're talking like 55 inches high and around 40 inches wide. I didn't want to demolish it by using thumb tacks to hang it up. And besides, I wanted it to be a focal point when I get my house. So I decided to do the grown up thing and have it framed for suitable display. Initially when I called the fram place to get a quote, the lady told me it be around $600 to frame. Fuck that!
So months went by while it collected a Dickensian layer of dust laying behind my television. However, this weekend some bug got up my crack and I decided that I would hall it to the local shop-o-rama to see about getting it framed ona budget. Well, I only had to shell out $220, but it's friggin' huge. Right now my wife and I are living in my room at my mom's house. It's not an especially large room and this black and white psychedelic lithograph is a bit too much. But, damn it, it's already framed and there's not other place to put. So for the time being, I guess I'll have to live with the hollowed out faces of John, Paul, George and Ringo looking at me every waking moment.
